in Francistown is led by Alan and Lindy Rootsey.
Thank you for visiting this website!!!! Updated 13th MARCH 2010
The Rock is a city church placed at the gates of the city of Francistown in Botswana. We have many nations represented and God is doing a great work among us. We simply stand in awe of how He could do such a work, but we still just get down and do the best we can.
Lindy and I have taken it upon ourselves to simply be servants, and found out that this is all that is needed for God to move. every single Sunday service we have new people coming for a look see, and many of them join immediately, while others eventually come back again to stay, this could be as many as 20 people per week, and with the growth, we filled the hall to capacity , yet the people still came!!! We stand in amazement at what is happening! It is truly a humbling experience.
This caused us to look elsewhere for a larger venue and the Lord had placed on my heart the figure of 1000, and at the beginning of the year, God showed us a run down and stripped out club at the entrance to Francistown in the north. We applied for it and were granted favour to use it, so God answered our original prayers, and as soon as we had the correct paperwork, we started work on it in March.
As the work progressed, we had some major obstacles placed before us as others said we didnt have the right to use the venue, but in a very similar fashion as we saw in Nehemiah, we continued the work and overcame whatever was placed in our path. Our first Sunday was on the 17th May and the place was packed out. We also were blessed to have our tent erected and had a big celebration after the service, a cow was killed and we had more than enough food for all.
I also felt in my heart that whatever we did would be done on tithes and offerings and freewill offerings by people who God spoke to, and not to put any financial burden on anyone or take up extra offerings. This was undertaken and we have been blessed to still have finances in the bank and still give around 25% of income as gifts to people in the church, outside and also to other ministries. God has blessed us so much.
God really has blessed us for a purpose, and we know that we have to impact the city with the gospel, and being a place not only of refuge, but a place where the signs and wonders follow the preaching of the Word.
God has also been impressing on our hearts to really trust Him in the area of signs and miracles, which will not only attract many more people to come and see what the Lord is doing, but set many captives free in the nation. And this is what has happened. salvations, signs and wonders follow the preaching of the Word of God, and we know that if we stay humble and seek the Giver, we will see even more. Its exciting work!
We also have in our hearts that these signs and miracles must be a part of every service we hold, wether its a sunday meeting or a bible study or prayer meeting. The days of average meetings are over.
What an awesome and mighty God we serve!!!!!
